For the Apple Strudel:

  • 4 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Gala), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1 package of ready-made flio pastry
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

To Serve:

  • 1 cup Madagascan Vanilla Greek Style Yoghurt
  • Slice the apple strudels into portions and serve warm.
  • Drizzle some of the Madagascan Vanilla Yogurt over each serving of apple strudel.

  1. For the Apple Strudel: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, raisins (if using), and chopped walnuts (if using). Toss everything together until the apples are well coated with the sugar and spices.
  3. Lay one sheet of filo pastry on a clean, dry surface (cover the remaining sheets with a slightly damp tea towel to prevent them from drying out).
  4. Brush the sheet of filo pastry with melted butter, making sure to get the edges.
  5. Place another sheet of filo pastry on top and brush it with melted butter as well. Repeat this process until you have 4 sheets stacked on top of each other, all brushed with butter.
  6. Spread half of the apple mixture along the short edge of the filo pastry stack, leaving about 1 inch of dough on each side.
  7. Carefully fold in the sides of the filo pastry and then roll up the dough, starting from the apple-covered edge, to create a strudel shape.
  8. Place the strudel, seam-side down, on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with the remaining melted butter.
  9. Repeat the process with the remaining 4 sheets of filo pastry and the remaining apple mixture to make a second strudel.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until the strudels are golden brown and crisp.
  11. Remove the strudels from the oven and allow them to cool slightly for a few minutes. You can dust them with powdered sugar if desired.
  12. Drizzle some of the Madagascan Vanilla Yogurt over each serving of apple strudel.
